Whether or not that was for a limited time, I have no idea. So many people contacted support to get the game that it ended up being a free gift for anyone, via a redemption code "ILOVETHESIMS". People who never owned Sims 2 Digital Deluxe, but did own The Sims 2, complained to Origin Support that they didn't have Sims 2 Ultimate on their account, and Origin Support (either through ignorance or apathy) rewarded those people with the game despite them not actually being eligible for the free gift. Sims 2 Ultimate Collection was a promotional game given to those who had been "burned" by the fact that the rest of the game was never available digitally. The Sims 2 was released digitally, but only for a short time, and no expansions were ever available digitally. Sims 2 Ultimate Collection was a free gift by EA via Origin to people whose accounts had the Sims 2 Digital Deluxe. Sims 2 ultimate collection was never available for purchase.
